Pakistan celebrates Independence Day on 14 August every year. Pakistan became an independent country on 14 August 1947, after the end of British rule in the Indian subcontinent.

The Pakistan Movement was led by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, who demanded a separate homeland for Muslims of the subcontinent. The All-India Muslim League played a major role in achieving this goal.

On 14 August 1947, Pakistan emerged as an independent nation. Muhammad Ali Jinnah became the country’s first Governor-General, while Liaquat Ali Khan became its first Prime Minister.

Independence Day is celebrated throughout Pakistan with flag-raising ceremonies, national songs, speeches, and decorations in green and white. It is a day to remember the sacrifices of those who struggled for Pakistan and to renew our commitment to the country’s progress and unity.
